The Australian Computer Society is hosting a "Do you want to teach Coding at your school?
" workshop in Canberra, with "Code Club Australia
", 19th May 2016.
"Code Club Australia is a nationwide network of free, volunteer-led, coding clubs for children. We
create projects for our volunteers to teach at coding clubs. The
projects we make teach children how to program by showing them how to
make computer games, animations and websites.
Code Club is about
fun, creativity, and learning through exploring. It’s important that the
children enjoy their time at Code Club. They should understand that
they’re in charge of the computer, and can (and should) make it to what
they want, not the other way around.
Other benefits of Code Club,
such as learning about computational thinking, or developing expertise
in coding, are secondary to these two objectives."
